Tul is taken to the great Monastery of Saint Bernard, set in the mighty snow-covered mountains of northern Ganya to be raised a novice monk, an orphan with no knowledge of his background. Jack grows up in the wilderness of southern Ganya with his two sisters and father. Tul stumbles across a prophesy in the monastery library which reveals that a set of twins will be the saviors of Ganya, reversing the chaos that is being unleashed by the blood sacrifice. When the monks also discover the prophesy, they unleash their draugr creatures to find the twins and kill them. Little do they know that one of the twins is under their very noses. Each twin flees, pursued by the draugr and evil monks. If only they can find each other they might make sense of the increasing chaos that now surrounds them. But, in a world where the separation of good and evil is rapidly fragmenting, Tul and Jack soon find out that no one is really who they seem to be - including themselves! Twin is a rich and gripping story of action and adventure, isolation and the strength of family, and the choice between good and evil. Maybe it's not a fantasy after all ...

Complex Nonlinearity: Chaos, Phase Transitions, Topology Change and Path Integrals is a book about prediction & control of general nonlinear and chaotic dynamics of high-dimensional complex systems of various physical and non-physical nature and their underpinning geometro-topological change. The book starts with a textbook-like expose on nonlinear dynamics, attractors and chaos, both temporal and spatio-temporal, including modern techniques of chaos–control. Chapter 2 turns to the edge of chaos, in the form of phase transitions (equilibrium and non-equilibrium, oscillatory, fractal and noise-induced), as well as the related field of synergetics. While the natural stage for linear dynamics comprises of flat, Euclidean geometry (with the corresponding calculation tools from linear algebra and analysis), the natural stage for nonlinear dynamics is curved, Riemannian geometry (with the corresponding tools from nonlinear, tensor algebra and analysis). The extreme nonlinearity – chaos – corresponds to the topology change of this curved geometrical stage, usually called configuration manifold. Chapter 3 elaborates on geometry and topology change in relation with complex nonlinearity and chaos. Chapter 4 develops general nonlinear dynamics, continuous and discrete, deterministic and stochastic, in the unique form of path integrals and their action-amplitude formalism. This most natural framework for representing both phase transitions and topology change starts with Feynman’s sum over histories, to be quickly generalized into the sum over geometries and topologies. The last Chapter puts all the previously developed techniques together and presents the unified form of complex nonlinearity. Here we have chaos, phase transitions, geometrical dynamics and topology change, all working together in the form of path integrals. The objective of this book is to provide a serious reader with a serious scientific tool that will enable them to actually perform a competitive research in modern complex nonlinearity. It includes a comprehensive bibliography on the subject and a detailed index. Target readership includes all researchers and students of complex nonlinear systems (in physics, mathematics, engineering, chemistry, biology, psychology, sociology, economics, medicine, etc.), working both in industry/clinics and academia.

"An invitation from a firing squad to attend my own execution does not frighten me nearly as much as one from Bahram to join him for a cup of tea." - Dr. Frederick Hoffman In this sweeping saga of good versus evil, Dr. Frederick Hoffman spends four decades in pursuit of the mysterious being known only as Bahram. Without warning, Bahram appears at critical times in history to catalyze war, civil unrest, and bloodshed, only to disappear just as quickly. Eventually, Bahram finds fertile ground for his dark arts in the Third Reich. In a story reminiscent of Joseph Conrad's Hearts of Darkness, Hoffman and his collaborators - a struggling soldier and a military spy - are drawn deep into Nazi Germany in the dramatic closing days of World War II. When they finally confront Bahram, their choices will have a lasting impact on the future of humankind. (Includes a preview of A Murder of Angels, Book Two in the Path of Angels series.) Synopsis: Angels of Chaos follows the mission of Dr. Frederick Hoffman to confront and vanquish a mysterious being who appears at key points history to foment chaos and suffering. The first half of the novel is set during the labor wars in Colorado in 1913 and the second half, in Europe during World War II. Hoffman's life is bookended by catastrophic events of cruelty that leave him and the reader contemplating whether evil is a force in its own right, or simply an extension of human ambition. Dr. Hoffman begins his pursuit of Bahram when he is hired as a negotiator by the Rockefeller family in 1913. After being kidnapped from his hotel by Bahram's men, he is taken to a tent colony housing striking workers, all followers of Bahram. While being detained, he attempts not only to secure his own release, but to diffuse what he believes will soon be a violent showdown between the striking workers and the National Guard. While he manages to escape, he is too late to bring about a peaceful end to the standoff. He blames himself for the resulting bloodshed that includes innocent women and children burned to death in a tent. After a brief interlude, the story jumps to 1945 and World War II. Bahram has embedded himself within the SS and the Allies send an aged Hoffman with a squad of soldiers on a secret mission to neutralize him. By the time the allies enter Germany, Hoffman is hot on Bahram's trail, his collaborators have a competing side mission to capture German V2 scientists, and he is in a race against time to settle his score with Bahram as atonement for his past mistakes. The events, characters, and setting of Angels of Chaos are based on meticulous research and first-hand accounts. More importantly, the novel gives voice to ordinary people who find themselves, through no fault of their own, caught up in extraordinary events.

Over the last two decades, chaos in engineering systems has moved from being simply a curious phenomenon to one with real, practical significance and utility. Engineers, scientists, and mathematicians have similarly advanced from the passive role of analyzing chaos to their present, active role of controlling chaos-control directed not only at suppression, but also at exploiting its enormous potential. We now stand at the threshold of major advances in the control and synchronization of chaos for new applications across the range of engineering disciplines. Controlling Chaos and Bifurcations in Engineering Systems provides a state-of-the-art survey of the control-and anti-control-of chaos in dynamical systems. Internationally known experts in the field join forces in this volume to form this tutorial-style combination of overview and technical report on the latest advances in the theory and applications of chaos control. They detail various approaches to control and show how designers can use chaos to create a wider variety of properties and greater flexibility in the design process. Chaos control promises to have a major impact on novel time- and energy-critical engineering applications. Within this volume, readers will find many challenging problems-yet unsolved-regarding both the fundamental theory and potential applications of chaos control and anti-control. Controlling Chaos and Bifurcations in Engineering Systems will bring readers up-to-date on recent development in the field and help open the door to new advances.
